Absolutely, Kate. We’ve come across many people who have had their fingers burnt by contracting their marketing out to an ‘expert’ only to see their money swallowed up in no time with little or no return on investment. That’s why us Tigers always advise people to really get to know a marketer and check out their track record before signing them up.

Thanks for your comments Rosemarie. The 72dpi versus 300dpi (web versus printed publication) issue happens all too often so we always try to work with our clients to help them build up a good portfolio of good quality pics. Here’s to fantastic images in future for all of us!

Excellent post. As a webmistress the number of times I have had delays in projects because of poor photographs trying to represent what should be a really exciting business are too numerous to mention. It’s a very very old phrase, but the ‘picture says a thousand words’ is really so true and the right image can make such a huge difference. (And then there’s the “oh, I just copied off the web” – don’t ever go there!)

Oh this is so true honey, I have met so many people at networking days claiming to be everything from PR experts, to life coaches and web designers and you can tell, having talked to others over the years who know their stuff, that they have been made redundant or had a family and decided to go into it with no experience but knowing that as you say you can blag your way through if you have the gift of the gab. It’s really scary cause people will be taken in by this new brand of “expert!”.

Yes, it’s good to empower people and to enable them to be able to do what they can. It is good to make things clear and it is not good to consider knowledge is power. Sharing knowledge doesn’t mean you will miss out on business, you are more likely to gain custom, as time goes by, people become busier and don’t always have time to work on marketing or social media themselves. When those people look for help they’re more likely to head to the people they are sure know what they’re talking about
